WalpUrgis study group

The source of HEMA is the traesure trove of manuscripts of the old world, of these, the oldest exxstant manual is known by its catalogue number, MS I.33. The manuscript is also known as the Walpurge Manuscript, Walpurgis Manuscript, The Tower Fechtbuch and the Lutegerus Manuscript. It dates to ca 1320s in Franconia in what is now Southern Germany. It studies the use of an arming sword and buckler unarmoured.

The study group is a peer based reconstruction effort of the SDS member. The group reads the MS I.33 directly and interprets its lessons, as well as developing its own body of rediments. It also has an emphasis on historical reenactment of the period.

It meets Sundays. Those interested should inquire with the club for details. It is open to all members and friends of the SDS. While not a beginner's class, new players are welcome.
