Which class should i attend?

Our fundamentals class on Saturday 2:00 - 4:00 PM, is designed for beginners and will take you through core fencing principles needed to move onto the weapon specific classes. We ask that you complete at least 4 out of the 8 week series before moving onto the weapon specific classes, so that you’ll have a foundation when we start to approach intermediate topics. I highly recommend finishing all of the 8 week series as it will only aid you in your growth as a fencer. The topics rotate each week are as follows;

  1. Structure

  2. Measure

  3. Tempo

  4. Parry & Riposte

  5. The Bind: Strong

  6. The Bind: Weak

  7. Feints & provocations

  8. Tactics in sparring

What if I cant make it to Saturdays?

No problem, just send an email (Snoho.dueling@gmail.com) and let us know what days you can attend and we will work to get you trained up in the fundamentals.

What do I need for my first practice?

You’ll need to sign the waiver located here. You don’t need any equipment, we have all the loaner gear including mask, gorget, and padded longsword. If you’d like, we recommend light utility gloves to avoid blisters with extended use but not necessary as one practice is unlikely to cause them. Bring some water or a water bottle, there is a water fountain on site. Lastly, wear some comfortable clothing you don’t mind moving around in.
